Bulletproof beats

British synth-pop revivalist duo La Roux isn’t re-inventing anything. On top of the apt Annie Lennox and Erasure comparisons, its brand of 80’s electro has made a big comeback the last couple of years. With that said, Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid pack so much verve into their music that it’s almost impossible to consider it anything else but scalding synth magic. Welding together ice-cold androgynous-sounding vocals and a chorus so addicting you might have to check into rehab, La Roux’s “Bulletproof” proved to be a perfect platform for Berlin’s GRVRBBRS to build on. The result is an infectious track that shimmers like a thousand pounds of glitter falling from the sky.
